Packaging
This project was one of my first official projects being the graphic designer & not the student.
Print On Wood is a multifaceted business but this particular project focused on the gifting & homewares side by revamping the old packaging that clients would receive when their orders arrived.
The new packaging needed to be engaging, as I the main goal was for our clients to be excited opening their goodies. We really cared about the work we were doing & we wanted that to translate into the packaging by adding that additional unboxing experience that everyone really enjoys.
The main aspects of the project were to;
Refresh the thank you cards that clients were receiving
with their orders,A new envelope to go with the thank you cards,
Curate a new tissue paper for orders to be wrapped in,
New swing tags for the products made of Tasmanian Oak as their packaging process was different.
I ended up making these bird, tree & sky icons that were both used to make a seamless pattern for the tissue paper as well as feature on the thank you card & envelope. It came together so nicely & I’m still proud of this project, being my first that I’ve done solo & legitimately. I remember receiving the test prints from our manufacturers & being blown away with that ‘wow, I really made that’ feeling, which as a designer is one of my favourite feelings.
Designing for packaging is one of those projects where there really is so much to be considerate of - whether that’s font size, legibility, how it looks folded, how the real deal translates & if the on-screen vision comes to life in the test print. This collection really does scream Print On Wood & it nails that goal of making the unboxing exciting - there’s nothing more professional than considered & well executed branding/packaging.
